Got to keep this one positive but racing the Elite riders when they get gridded first for us to catch was not in my race game plan, Anyway a well organised event, little off on the time, but that's racing and the shop worked hard to put the event on which compared to the 100's I've done sits in the top for atmosphere and organisation and I've done some terrible events!! In my few years racing .
We all enjoyed it and we support a good few XX riders which all loved the event and coaching that they had leading up to it giving them focus n goals for the next event. They got the BuG!!
Gridded on the 2nd row behind a slow starters blocked me from the off and sitting 20 deep with offs everywhere from the stumps then someone took me out and I had my turn sitting on the floor for a few sec's adjusting brake gear levers back.
And I was off again It took half a lap too the 8th rider sitting with Neil hayward a top elite rider , It was very hard to get round others and using the climbs near finish line I managed to catch Matt Gee who was pushing hard another top elite rider, The trail pretty much blended and my form took over for 4 laps catching riders and sitting with Neil then passing Pete Harris cross national champ a great guy,
My Cannondale ultimate performed without flaw even with scary schwalbe furious Fred's 29er's, look them up No tread at all on the 29er, my Cyclecross skills allowed me to control the bike flawless over all par a slip when Neil was chasing me hard on the last lap, he got passed and pushed on with ten year youth he showed how to finish the 5th lap to my normal 4.
Total respect to all who race a tight technical course to challenge us as Matt from go run and ride planned and executed with grace.
Lee Hutchinson managed a 14th
Dan chapman 9th
Josh Popham 7th
Chris Haywood 21st
Alex welburn 2nd
